Recently, I embarked on a whirlwind 3-day creative spree where I juggled cleaning my space, filming content, compiling, editing, and finally uploading everything to Google Drive. It was a bit of a marathon, but I was determined to get the best footage while staying organized and productive. Armed with my Insta360 Ace Pro, iPhone, laptop, and Google Drive, I learned a few valuable lessons along the way that made the process smoother and, dare I say, even enjoyable. Here's a breakdown of my experience, along with some tips, tricks, and mistakes to avoid!

Day 1: Filming Everything with the Insta360 Ace Pro and iPhone

Day one was all about capturing the essence of my work. I used the Insta360 Ace Pro to take immersive videos of the cleaning process, as it allows for 360-degree shots and gives you plenty of flexibility with angles later during editing. I also grabbed my iPhone for some more specific shots, especially for close-ups and quick snaps. The iPhone's camera is still a powerhouse for static shots, but Insta360 stole the show when it came to capturing the bigger picture (literally!).

Tip #1: Leverage the Insta360 Ace Pro for dynamic footage and more engaging content. Insta360 Studio (their editing software) compiles everything seamlessly, making the editing process almost enjoyable. You can also easily take high-quality screenshots from your footage, which came in handy for thumbnails or Instagram posts. Trust me, some of those screenshots were pure gold!

Tip #2: Alternate between the Insta360 and iPhone. The combination of 360-degree immersive shots with more traditional, straightforward iPhone footage creates a great variety of visuals, keeping the final product engaging.

Day 2: Editing and Compiling with Insta360 Studio

With all the footage in hand, I spent Day 2 immersed in editing. Insta360 Studio is a beast of a tool that compiles everything beautifully. It’s a lifesaver when dealing with multiple angles, and the way it auto-stitches the footage is impressive. The built-in features made it easy to cut out the less interesting parts and focus on the shots that stood out.

Tip #3: Use Insta360 Studio for the entire editing process. You can refine your clips, adjust angles after the fact, and even export in a variety of formats. The software is powerful, yet simple enough not to overwhelm you. Once I was done editing, I exported everything to Google Drive. A great hack here is to export in chunks to avoid massive file sizes slowing things down.

Tip #4: Delete local files once uploaded to the cloud. My laptop’s storage was filling up fast, so after successfully uploading everything to Google Drive, I deleted the heavy files to free up space. There’s no need to keep giant 4K videos locally when Google Drive can store them for you.

DO:

• Use Insta360 Studio for compiling and editing 360-degree footage. It’s a game-changer for anyone working with the Insta360 cameras.
• Take screenshots from your footage directly in Insta360 Studio. The resolution is great, and they make for incredible static visuals.
• Upload your work in stages to avoid overwhelming your laptop with large files. Export and upload as you go, rather than doing it all at once.
• Organize your Google Drive with clear, structured folders. This will make accessing files faster and less chaotic.

DON'T:

• Forget to back up your footage! Even though Google Drive is great, I also recommend keeping a backup on an external hard drive or other cloud storage services.
• Overcomplicate the editing process. The tools provided by Insta360 Studio are plenty powerful. Stick to the essentials, like trimming and adding transitions.
• Keep unnecessary files on your laptop after uploading. Delete them to save storage and keep things running smoothly. You don’t want your system slowing down mid-edit!

DON’T: Forget to have fun with it! Editing and organizing can seem tedious, but when you see the final product coming together, it’s incredibly rewarding.
